Onatti writes new exciting plays and uses different modern styles of theatre to make foreign languages accessible and mix language learning with entertainment.

A play in French
Action!
Play in French
Play touring from Nov 2026 - July 2027
Roll camera… action!
This interactive play takes place on the film set of a new pirate film. The director and their assistant are trying to shoot a adventure movie.
Unfortunately, the budget for this film has been cut, and filming must continue with very limited resources. Resulting in a production full of make-shift solutions.
Your students will become part of this production as actors, crew members, and creators of sound and special effects. With the imagination of the director and assistant can they turn this low budget movie into a success?
Performed in accessible KS3/4 French, this lively “play within a play” encourages students to listen, respond, and take part in the action. With lots of repetition, physical comedy, and creative involvement, it’s an engaging and memorable way to experience language learning.
Expect laughter, surprises, and a film that may (or may not!) ever get finished…
Please note: Although the play is set on a film set, no actual filming or recording of students will take place.

...absolutely loved it.
This was our first time hosting an Onatti performance, and the students absolutely loved it. They were challenged, engaged, and fully immersed throughout the play. The actors were excellent, and the production was of a high standard. We will definitely be booking future performances.

...french level was just right
Best senior play in 5 years. This year was really funny and the kids thought so too. French level was just right. I like the introduction of using laminated prompt cards.

...absolutely awesome
We couldn't have asked for a better experience ...the actors were fantastic. Ester and Felix were on time, super efficient and organised, so kind and friendly towards our staff. Then in the performance they were absolutely awesome. They really took time with our willing volunteers helping them with any French pronunciation. The students were entertained throughout and were constantly laughing and joining in where necessary. The play was accessible but with the correct amount of challenge.
